About the Conference

The Conference of Local Health Officials exists in Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS 431.330) to provide recommendations on foundational capabilities and modernization to the Oregon Health Authority.

See the Conference of Local Health Officials Bylaws here (revised and approved October 2023)

See the Oregon Health Authority and the Conference of Local Health Officials MOU here (revised and approved August 2025)

The Coalition of Local Health Officials’ staff are contracted to provide support to the Conference of Local Health Officials, but the Conference and the Coalition are distinct entities serving different purposes. Learn more about the Coalition.

Conference Meetings

The Conference meets on the third Thursday of every month, unless it falls on a holiday. Access the meeting materials here.

Conference Committees

The Conference has six committees that serve as a forum for Local Health Officials and the Oregon Public Health Division to discuss expectations, funding, program elements for Financial Assistance Agreements, and other governmental public health issues.

These committees make recommendations (ORS 431.340 - 431.345) on policy, budget, and any other major changes to the full Conference of Local Health Officials Board for discussion and final action. Learn more about those committees here.
